World T20 ticket sales launched

Sale of tickets for the ICC World Twenty20 cricket tournament, which begins in September, will commence on Monday for Sri Lankan nationals, and from March 30, worldwide. At a glittering ceremony at the Galle Face Green, the official sale of tickets was launched. The ICC said it had streamlined ticket sales in view of the problems last year. “We have centralised the management of control of tickets. Now a global agency called ticketmaster will handle [it],” said ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat. The idea was to make tickets affordable and accessible, he said and added that tickets were available for as low as 25 cents. All ticket sales will be monitored by the ICC. There is a limit on how many tickets a person can buy: six tickets for all group stage matches, and four tickets for Super 8 match days, the semifinals and finals.
